Final Reflection

The only thing constant with the digital world is change and can at times be difficult to match the speed of change and impact on schooling and education. I completed my summations using WordPress, Powtoon, and Voki, the huge impact digital technology can have on teaching has been made aware to me. The three digital technologies I used were not new to me, I think that was what made it it even more enjoyable.

Blogging, is by no means new to me. I have my own website which I use regularly, but what was new to me was the use of various different tools incorporated in one website. This assessment has however shown me the various classroom opportunities this platform offers. Using these technologies students are able to participate in various learning activities allowing students to learn at their own pace. The blog form may aid in the development of students digital fluency. Blogs and other such digital technologies offer a safe haven that allows self-expression and continuing engagement in digital communities

The three different elements of the blogging task offer a variety of learning methods suited to a variety of students. While the inclusion of digital technologies in the classroom is a vital step towards a digitally inclusive classroom, students need to be made aware of various rules and responsibilities they will have to follow in order to stay safe while using such technologies.

Tool such as Sway or Storify, which use a mix of easy drag-and-drop visual and auditory resources, are curation tools that allow students to collect a range of different interpretations of information. While more creatively engaging presentation tools, such as PowToon, NearPod or Prezi, encourage students to use their own skills to present the information they may have found by curating their topic.
